Tile Art (part 2)

New this week

This week less was completed than preferred. The progress made the tile from last week is essentially complete light baking and all and work has begun on the second tile. Along with this 1 item has been added.

Tile Art

Tile 1x1_1 was completed to an initial level of completeness. As much as I would like to spend more time adding random props here and there it falls low on the priority right now. Especially as creating other rooms will create far more props to place about the place.

Tile 1x1_2 has started being created. I’m reusing the same material as the upper floor from 1x1_1 in a lot of places because it seems to work really well. Below is a slideshow of progress.

Tile 1x1_2 is in a strange place because it was made without any final visuals in mind. I think it’ll look good with more workplace/industrial props, so I’ll be making a handful of them to ordain the shelves.

Real time lighting

A while back I mentioned having the real time lighting turned on and off when entering a room. Now that the first room is complete, I can say the system works seamlessly. The lights will not cast onto the environment. So, entering and exiting a room doesn’t cause any jarring lighting changes. However, whenever the player or an enemy approaches a notable light source they are illuminated. This really helps the enemies look apart of the world even without shadows.

What’s next?

Same as last week, more art jail and any simple items I can think of.
